The PPL Draft is kicking off. Player applications for the draft has closed and the list of eligible players have been determined. Nearly 500 players are vying for lucrative contracts to play in the 2023 season.
On March 20th, Draft day, teams will choose their players. The order of those selections has now been determined by random draw. The live event was broadcast on <a href="https://instagram.com/propadelleague">Instagram</a>.

2023 Draft Order Selection

The <a href="https://propadelleague.com/">Pro Padel League (PPL)</a>, North America's first and only professional padel league, is releasing the official team rosters for its highly anticipated 2024 season. Set to start next month at the ULTRA CLUB in Miami, this season will showcase some of the most decorated and iconic male and female professional padel players from around the world. 
This season, the 2024 PPL team rosters feature five players ranked number one in their respective countries, along with Agustin Tapia and Ariana Sanchez Fallada, top ranked players in the world. Additionally, the league boasts an impressive lineup across its ten teams, further solidifying the PPL's reputation for attracting top-tier players. The team rosters include:

From April 2nd-7th and April 9th-14th, ten PPL teams representing some of the most iconic cities in North America will compete in the first two events of the 2024 season at ULTRA CLUB in Miami including the Las Vegas Smash (2023 Champions), Cancun Waves (2023 Finalists), Miami Padel Club, Flowrida Goats, San Diego Stingrays, Los Angeles Beat, Arkansas Matrix, Toronto Polar Bears, New York Atlantics, and Houston Volts.
Starting Tuesday, April 2nd, round robin matches will take place through Friday, April 5th, with the semifinals being held Saturday, April 6th and the final on Sunday, April 7th. The Pro Padel League (PPL) kicked off its 2024 season with exhilarating on-court action featuring the world's top players, sparking a strong surge in audience engagement during its opening events held at the ULTRA CLUB in Miami.
During the PPL's initial two events from April 2nd to April 7th and April 9th to 14th, the league captivated viewers, garnering nearly 1.6 million streams on the PPL YouTube channel, and accumulating an impressive total watch time of just under 500,000 hours.
This surge in engagement marks a monumental growth compared to the league's performance in 2023, showcasing a staggering 25-fold increase in total YouTube watch time for the opening two events, surpassing the entirety of the 2023 season. 
In the opening events of the 2024 PPL season, the Miami Padel Club captured the first event of the year, followed by the Los Angeles BEAT emerging victorious in the league's second event.

2024 Season Kicks Off with Impressive Audience Engagement

Today, the <a href="https://propadelleague.com/">Pro Padel League (PPL),</a> North America's first professional padel league, is announcing their 2024 season schedule including an increased prize money purse of $1 million. Bringing padel to both the East and West coasts of the United States where the largest audiences of the sport are located in North America, the 2024 season will be highlighted by an <a href="https://propadelleague.com/2024-season-schedule/">expanded schedule</a>, a new team competition format, more than double the hours of viewer content, and will feature many of the world's top padel players.

The only professional sports league to showcase the best male and female athletes, this season some of the most decorated and iconic padel players from around the world will compete in the PPL. For the 2024 season, over 80% of the newly signed PPL players are ranked top 50 in the world. These include Pablo Lima (former No. 1, Flowrida Goats), Juan Martín Díaz (No. 1 for 14 years, New York Atlantics), Fede Chingotto (current No. 7, New York Atlantics), Miguel Lamperti (former No. 2, San Diego Stingrays), and twins Mapi and Majo Sánchez Alayeto (former No. 1, Flowrida Goats) amongst several other top ten players in the world.
For the 2024 season, ten teams will compete for the chance to lift the PPL Cup including the Las Vegas Smash (2023 Champions), Cancun Waves (2023 Finalists), Miami Padel Club, Flowrida Goats, San Diego Stingrays, Los Angeles Beat, Arkansas Matrix, Toronto Polar Bears, New York Atlantics, and Houston Volts. Additionally in 2024, the PPL will increase the total number of matches played by over 400% to nearly 100, expand their viewer content by nearly 300% to over 200 total hours, and engage new markets for PPL franchises. 
This season, all ten teams are scheduled to play the four PPL regular season matches in 2024. The first two regular season events of the 2024 season are scheduled to take place in Florida from April 2-8 and April 9-14. The last two regular season events are set to be held in Southern California from August 12-17 and August 19-24 with more information on the venues to be announced in the upcoming weeks. Following the regular season events, the top eight teams in the standings will advance to play in the PPL Cup Final in New York at the end of 2024. The competition format at each event will include men's doubles, women's doubles, and a mixed doubles match.

2024 Season With $1 Million Prize Money Purse

A leader in the development and explosive growth of Padel in Mexico, Torre is the Owner and Director of afpcourtsmx, the exclusive dealer in Mexico for adidas Padel courts, and the creator and Owner of the All4Padel Club in Mexico powered by adidas.

The All-Star game pits Eastern Conference vs. Western Conference over three matches, men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles. Men's and women's doubles matches are worth three points, the mixed doubles match is worth six points, and the conference with the most points at the conclusion will be crowned champion. 
Introducing the "Golden Tiebreaker"…
If the two teams point totals are tied after the mixed doubles match, the teams will play a winner take all "Golden Tiebreaker." The "Golden Tiebreaker" is a new unique and innovative format in which teams will play all three of their lineups in the tiebreaker (men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles) alternating every four points. Teams may change their lineup after each rotation of points but may not substitute players in the middle of a four-point rotation. The winning team will be the first to reach 21 points with a 2-point margin.

Announcing the PPL 2023 Season All Star Game in San Diego on November 18th!

After a late start Saturday morning due to weather, the last weekend of regular season play got underway with riveting action between the Arkansas Matrix and Miami Padel Club. Miami, who went into this weekend as the only undefeated team of the season, was looking to continue their hot streak but Arkansas proved to be too tough and eventually took them down by winning the deciding mixed doubles match. With Arkansas win over Miami, they became the second team to claim their spot in the top four along with Miami and advance to the semifinals next weekend.
Following this, the Cancun Waves took on the San Diego Stingrays in what was a highly anticipated matchup. Delivering all the excitement and more it was anticipated to be, Cancun and San Diego were just getting underway in the deciding mixed doubles match when rain forced a delay and play was eventually called off until Sunday morning.
On Sunday, San Diego vs. Cancun will conclude their mixed doubles match to determine who will prevail in this tough matchup followed by the Las Vegas Smash vs. the Los Angeles Beat. All four teams are still looking to advance to the semifinals with only two spots remaining.

The <a href="https://propadelleague.com/">Pro Padel League</a> (PPL) – North America's first professional Padel league – is excited to announce that former ATP World Tour #2 Singles Player and BNP Paribas Open Tournament Director Tommy Haas, has been named a Team Owner of the San Diego Stingrays.
During his illustrious career, Haas reached a career high #2 ATP singles ranking and won 15 ATP singles titles. In Grand Slam competition, Haas reached three Australian Open and one Wimbledon semifinal and three US Open and one French Open quarterfinal. In 2000, Haas earned a silver medal at the Sydney Olympics. Following his professional tennis career, Haas was named the Tournament Director of the BNP Paribas Open which is the largest combined WTA and ATP World Tour two-week event in the world.

Taktika Padel, home of the San Diego Stingrays, is based out of the award-winning facility, the Barnes Tennis Center. Located in San Diego, California, it is one of the most successful tennis programs and centers in the world that annually hosts an ATP 250 and WTA 500 level professional tennis tournament. A seven court facility, Taktika Padel has built a stadium court, installed live streaming cameras, and has a performance center for physical training and rehab, food and beverage, and a dedicated pro shop.

Bronze Medal Battles Deliver Fireworks Before the Finals in Guadalajara

With a rain delay Saturday pushing the mixed doubles match between the Cancun Waves and the San Diego Stingrays to Sunday, both teams were back on the court Sunday morning at 9am playing at peak performance. Going neck-and-neck until the very end, the mixed doubles match eventually came down to the deciding third set tiebreaker with Cancun finally pulling ahead to take the lead and win over San Diego. With their win over San Diego, Cancun also secured their spot in the top four to advance to the semifinals of the PPL season next weekend.
In the last team matchup of the regular season play for the inaugural PPL season, the Las Vegas Smash took on the Los Angeles Beat. With Vegas winning the women's doubles match, and LA winning the men's doubles match, the two teams also played a deciding mixed doubles match. Following a tight second set, Vegas was able to hold off LA in a straight set win that also secured them the last spot in the top four.
Rounding out the top four teams set to take on each other in what is set to be a blockbuster, super Saturday, semifinal showdown next weekend are: Miami, Arkansas, Cancun and Las Vegas.

Cancun Defeats San Diego, Las Vegas Tops LA to Advance to Semifinals

In the upset of the season, the Cancun Waves defeated the Miami Padel Club on Saturday in their semifinal showdown to secure a spot in the Championship Match on Sunday. Winning both the men's and women's doubles matches against Miami, Cancun's stellar performance on Saturday put an end to the season's top team – Miami – taking home the PPL Cup on Sunday.
In the second semifinal match of the day Saturday, the Las Vegas Smash defeated the Arkansas Matrix after the women had to forfeit their match due to injury. With the Arkansas men's doubles team getting off to a quick start winning the first set against Las Vegas, Las Vegas fought back and won the next two sets to hold off the Arkansas men. Due to the Arkansas women's team injury the forced them to retire from their match, Vegas automatically won the mixed doubles match and booked their spot in Sunday's Championship Match.
On Sunday, the two teams will make history when they compete in the League's inaugural Championship Match with the winner taking home the PPL Cup. Making a special appearance on Sunday for the finals is Daddy Yankee – one of the best-selling Latin music artists known as the "King of Reggaeton" – who recently purchased the Orlando franchise. The PPL's Championship Match will air tape-delayed on CBS Sports Network in their two-hour programming on June 22nd at 7p.m. ET.

Cancun Stuns Miami, Las Vegas Defeats Arkansas to Advance to Sunday Championship Match

It was a heart racing game between Cancun Waves and Los Angeles Beat with plenty of excitement. 
LA won the first set 6-4, then Cancun took the second 7-5 pushing the game into a 3rd set to get the best of 3, which Cancun was able to secure the 3rd set after Daniela Banchero suffered muscle cramps.
The men's game was interrupted by rain and lightning delays and also played all 3 sets. The Beat commanded a 6-2 win in the first set, but lost in the second set 4-6 and 3rd set 3-6.

A Cuban-Mexican Major League Baseball (MLB) player, Randy is currently an outfielder for the Tampa Rays who set the MLB record in 2020 for scoring the most homeruns in a postseason.

Celebrity Athletes from the Tampa Rays Attend Weekend Two

New York, USA — The grand finale of the Pro Padel League (PPL) The City's Cups: The Finals lit up the iconic Hammerstein Ballroom on Sunday, as fans packed the stands to witness an unforgettable day of world-class padel and championship drama in the heart of Manhattan.
Before the main event, the day began with the matches for third place, which brought their own share of intensity and pride.
In the women's division, Marta Ortega and Sofía Araujo of Las Vegas Smash claimed the bronze after defeating the Flowrida Goats duo Gemma Triay and Ariadna Cañellas in a high-quality showdown.

This month, a sold-out crowd filled the stands for the PPL's first All-Star Game at Taktika Padel located at the award-winning Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, California. 
Showcasing the world's, and PPL's, best padel players, the Eastern Conference battled the Western Conference in an exciting three matches – men's doubles, women's doubles and a deciding mixed doubles set – that was broadcasted live around the world on T2, the Tennis Channel's live streaming network.
Headlining the Eastern Conference team this year was Cata Tenorio (Arkansas Matrix, four-time World Team Champion representing Argentina and former FIP #1), Nico Agritelley (Arkansas Matrix, PPL 2023 MVP, No. 2 ranked player in the U.S.), Ruben Rivera (Miami Padel Club, No. 72 FIP ranking), and Anna Cortiles (Cancun Waves, No. 93 WPT ranking).
On the Western Conference Team, their roster included Guga Vasquez (Las Vegas Smash, 2023 PPL Team Champions), Silvana Campus (San Diego Stingrays, No. 1 ranked Argentinian player and five-time World Team Champion representing Argentina), Dani Banchero (Los Angeles Beat, former No. 1 ranked Argentinian player and three-time World Team Champion representing Argentina), and Jacob Blanco (San Diego Stingrays, No. 4 ranked player in the U.S.). 
Prior to the start of the first All-Star match, an exhibition match took place between Houston Volts player Pablo Garcia and his partner, Houston's Sport Advisor, and former World No. 1, Juani Mieres, who defeated former 14-time World No. 1, and New York Atlantic's player, Juan Martin Diaz, and his partner former World No. 2, and San Diego Stingrays player, Miguel Lamperti, 8-5.
Shortly following this, in the first All-Star Game match, Western Conference duo Guga Vazquez and Jacabo Blanco defeated Western Conference men's team Nico Agritelley and Ruben Rivera in straight sets 6-3, 6-0. Making a strong comeback for the Eastern Conference was the women's doubles team Cata Tenorio and Anna Cortilles who defeated Western Conference duo Daniela Banchero and Silvana Campus decidedly 6-3, 6-4. 
With the All-Star Game coming down to the deciding mixed doubles set, it was the Eastern Conference who prevailed with Ruben Rivera and Anna Cortilles defeating Guga Vazquez and Sylvana Campus in a close set 6-4.

Eastern Conference Wins 1st PPL All-Star Game

San Sebastián, July 10, 2025 – Fede Chingotto and Agustín Tapia: the pairing everyone was eager to see. From rivals to teammates, united in their goal to take their team to the top. Thursday's Pro Padel League matchday made this union possible, and it couldn't have started better. They secured an important victory for the Miami Padel Club in the Pro Padel League, convincingly defeating Álex Arroyo and Gonzalo Rubio of the Arkansas Matrix, 6-2, 7-5. The match was played this Thursday in San Sebastián as part of the regular season of the professional team circuit.
From the opening games, Chingotto and Tapia displayed a compact, aggressive, and perfectly synchronized game. The first set quickly went the way of the Miami team, which scored several consecutive breaks to close out the set 6-2. In the second, Arkansas responded and put up a fight, even serving for the chance to level the match. But the Argentinians kept their composure in the decisive moments to seal the victory in straight sets.
A clear demonstration of the talent and potential both players possess. This win allows Miami Padel Club to remain near the top of the overall standings, further strengthening their bid for the title this Pro Padel League season.
Regarding Fede and Agustín, both expressed how pleased they were to be competing on the same side of the court this week. "Happy to be here again in the PPL with Agustín. We really enjoyed the match because the guys made it very tough for us, so we're pleased with this win in our debut," said Chingotto after the match.
For "Mozart," he highlighted the many Argentinian flags in the stands and promised to give his all throughout the tournament: "It's such a joy to have so much support so far from home, so we're very happy and we'll be back giving it our all on Saturday."
Arkansas Matrix Won the Women's Match
In the women's match, Jessica Castelló and Virginia Riera (Miami Padel Club) fell to Bea Caldera and Patty Llaguno (Arkansas Matrix) 6-1, 7-6. The first set was marked by clear dominance from the Arkansas pair, while the second was much more competitive, going to a tiebreak. However, Caldera and Llaguno capitalized on their greater effectiveness to close out the match.

The Pro Padel League (PPL) – North America's first professional Padel league – is excited to announce that they will be hosting their historic inaugural season in partnership with Florida's Sports Coast (Pasco County, Fla.) at the Sarah Vande Berg (SVB) Tennis & Wellness Center.
Starting May 13, 2023, the regular season will take place over the course of five weekends with seven teams in competition and conclude with the championship weekend taking place June 10-11, 2023, where there will be a semifinal round followed by the two best teams competing in the finals for the PPL CUP. During the first season, teams will be comprised of four active players including two men, and two women, and four alternates, and will follow the international scoring format. Attracting Padel fans from around the world for the first weekend of competition, 84 of the world's top Padel players will be competing in the PPL's inaugural season.

Originating in Mexico, the high-octane sport has become one of the fastest-growing sports in the world, gaining increasing popularity in Mexico and Europe and most recently, the U.S. and Canada. In the women's final, Gemma Triay and Aranza Osoro showcased their class to convincingly defeat Bea Caldera and Patty Llaguno, from the Arkansas Matrix team, by 6-3 / 6-4. Setting his sights on leading the Japanese team to victory in the Asian Olympics, Shungo wants to win the individual title of the next Asia Olympics.
Not only looking to grow the sport of Padel in Japan and across Asia, Shugo is also aiming to be apart of the League's historical year with the first season set to swing underway in May.

The inaugural season of the Pro Padel League (PPL), North America's first professional padel league, has been launched in partnership with Florida's Sports Coast at the Sarah Vande Berg (SVB) Tennis & Wellness Center in Zephyrhills. Padel is a rapidly growing paddle sport, currently boasting over 25 million players worldwide. In the U.S, it's projected to reach over 8 million players by 2030, with the number of padel courts expected to double in 2023.
The PPL is a platform for players, coaches, team owners, facility owners, broadcasters, fans, sponsors, and brands to engage with and capitalize on the sport's increasing popularity. The league's regular season commenced on May 13 and will span five weekends, involving seven teams and concluding with a championship weekend on June 10-11.
Each team will consist of four active players (two men and two women) and four alternates. A total of 84 of the world's top padel players will compete in PPL's first season. PPL Commissioner, Marcos Del Pilar, stated that the PPL's establishment would be a game-changer for the North American sports industry and that the focus is on building a community of fans and players.

<h2>Toronto Franchise to be Canada's First Team</h2>


Today, the <a href="https://propadelleague.com/">Pro Padel League</a> (PPL) – North America's first professional Padel league – is excited to announce that Josh Garr, President of <a href="https://www.apialarm.com/">a.p.i. ALARM Inc</a>., has purchased the league's Toronto franchise and the first team in Canada.
As President of a.p.i. ALARM – North America's largest private Security Company offering residential and commercial security systems and surveillance systems – Garr has been responsible for driving a.p.i. ALARM's growth and expansion in North America for the last ten years. Named a "Top 10 Under 40" for business professionals, Garr was born and raised in Canada and currently resides in Toronto. An avid sportsman, Garr grew up playing racquet sports and is passionate about Padel. Garr is currently involved with various non-profit organizations and charitable causes.
"We are delighted that a proven business leader like Josh Garr will be the Owner of the PPL's Toronto franchise," said Marcos del Pilar, Commissioner of the PPL. "We are also very proud that the addition of Toronto to the PPL makes our league truly North American and the only professional league with franchises in Canada, the U.S.A., and Mexico."
Joining Garr as an advisor to the Toronto franchise is Daniel White, VP of Partnerships and Sales of Mindful Sports, who is a former Senior Executive at MLSE. In addition, Adrian Morales – Padel enthusiast, sportsman, and natural leader – has been named Head Manager of the team.

In the upcoming weeks, Garr and the Toronto franchise will be announcing the team's name as well as their coach and other advisors. Prior to the start of the 2023 PPL season, Garr will also be announcing a special Padel event in Toronto to create excitement in the local community for the new team.
"Since I made Canada my home, my only goal was to bring Padel to Toronto," stated Adrian Morales, Head Manager of Toronto. "I am very excited to be working alongside the franchise's office to create one of the strongest Padel teams in North America."
Next month, the PPL will be announcing other key cities that have been awarded franchises. These teams will ignite a Padel phenomenon in the U.S. and position the PPL at the forefront of the Padel explosion that is happening in North America. 
"We see Padel really exploding in Canada over the next 12 months and the Toronto franchise will be an important catalyst in the development of the sport across the country," added del Pilar of the PPL.
The PPL's inaugural season will kick-off in the Spring of 2023 and conclude with the PPL CUP Championship. During the first season, each team will consist of two male and two female players and will follow the international scoring format.

Josh Garr Purchases the Pro Padel League’s Toronto Franchise

In the PPL's kick-off exhibition match, retired ATP players Tommy Haas, Juan Martin del Potro, and Jared Palmer hit the Padel court together for the first time with League Commissioner, Marcos del Pilar. Joining them was Daddy Yankee who officiated the exhibition match in the umpire chair before getting out on the Padel court. His first time playing Padel, Daddy Yankee took on Del Potro in a few rallies in a preview of what is to come for their Miami vs. Orlando rivalry coming up in the 2024 season.
Originating in Mexico, the high-octane sport has become one of the fastest-growing sports in the world, gaining increasing popularity in Mexico and Europe and most recently, the U.S. and Canada.

New York Atlantics Reach their First Final, Flowrida Goats Capture Third Place Defeating the Cancun Waves
AUGUST 26, 2024, SAN DIEGO – Last weekend, the Las Vegas Smash were crowned champions at the <a href="https://propadelleague.com/">Pro Padel League</a> (PPL)'s final 2024 regular season event in San Diego. Taking place at Taktika Padel located at the award-winning Barnes Tennis Center, the Smash defeated the New York Atlantics in the final on Sunday after capturing both the women's doubles and men's doubles matches featuring the world's best padel players and global superstars.
Taking the court first in the final on Sunday was the women's doubles match featuring Marta Ortega (world no. 6 and former world no. 1) and Alejandra Alonso of the Las Vegas Smash taking on Andrea Ustero and Virginia Riera of the Atlantics who they defeated in straight sets 6-2, 6-4. Following this, the highly anticipated men's doubles matchup took Center Court with Gonzalo Alfonso (world no. 1 doubles team) and Pablo Cardona of the Las Vegas Smash going up against with Federico Chingotto (world no. 4) and Luis Campagnolo of the Atlantics.
After a close first set, Alfonso/Cardona of the Smash secured a break of serve at 5-5 before going on to close out the set 7-5 against Chingotto/Campagnolo. In the second, the Atlantics fought back against the Smash to win it 6-3 and push the men's doubles match to a deciding, third set tiebreaker, but they couldn't hold off the Smash who captured the tiebreaker 10-3 to win the match and title in San Diego.
"Congratulations to the Las Vegas Smash for winning the event in San Diego and their incredible performance this week," said Marcos Del Pilar, PPL Commissioner and Co-Founder. "The level of competition in San Diego we witnessed was the highest we have seen yet, with so many exciting matches between the game's best players coming down to a deciding tiebreaker. I am proud of all our teams and players in the League who fought for every point, and every match, and gave fans in San Diego and those watching around-the-world unbelievable entertainment."
In addition to Sunday's final, the third and fourth place playoff took place between the Flowrida Goats and the Cancun Waves. Going the distance in the women's doubles match was Flowrida Goats' duo Aranzazu Orso (world no. 17) and Gemma Triay (world no. 3) who took on Alejandra Salazar and Veronica Virseda (world no. 15) of the Cancun Waves. With the Goats capturing the first set 6-3, the Waves made a strong comeback in the second set winning it 6-1 and pushing the match to a deciding third set tiebreaker. In an extremely close tiebreaker, the Goats eventually prevailed, winning it 13-11 against the Waves. Continuing the battle in the next match were Martin Di Nenno (world no. 6) and Pablo Lijo of the Goats facing Daniel Gutierrez (world no. 10) and Teodoro Zapata of the Waves. In a straight sets win, the Waves defeated the Goats 6-3, 6-3, to force the mixed doubles match and determine who would capture third place. In the final set of play between the two teams, Salazar/Zapata of the Waves went up against Osoro/Di Nenno of the Goats with the Goats' mixed doubles duo winning the deciding set 6-4 to claim third place in San Diego.
Following an exhilarating weekend of action in San Diego with record-breaking attendance and padel's biggest stars competing throughout the week, the top eight teams in the PPL standings will now advance to the PPL Cup and final event of the 2024 season taking place in November.

Las Vegas Smash Crowned Champions at the Pro Padel League’s  Final Regular Season Event in San Diego

Following an exhilarating week of round-robin matches in San Diego, on Saturday the four teams that advanced to the semifinals were back in action to battle for their spot in Sunday's final. In the first match on Center Court during the day session, the Las Vegas Smash took on the Cancun Waves in a rematch of last year's PPL Cup final.
Taking the court first was the women's doubles match featuring Marta Ortega (world no. 6 and former world no. 1) and Alejandra Alonso of the Las Vegas Smash who secured an early break, and 5-3 lead, in the first set against Alejandra Salazar and Veronica Virseda (world no. 15) of the Cancun Waves. After closing out the first set 6-3, Ortega/Alonso continued the momentum in the second set winning the match in straight sets 6-3, 6-3, against Salazar/Virseda to take the first match of the day for the Smash.
In the men's doubles match, Gonzalo Alfonso (world no. 1 doubles team) and Pablo Cardona of the Smash went up against Daniel Gutierrez (world no. 10) and Teodoro Zapata of the Waves with the first set coming down to a deciding tiebreaker. With the Smash capturing the tiebreaker to win the first set, Alfonso/Cardona went down 0-2 in the second set after a quick break of serve by Gutierrez/Zapata. Later breaking back against the Waves, the dynamic duo of the Smash were able to capture a second break and the second set 7-5 to close out the match and secure the Smash's spot in Sunday's final.
In Saturday's second semifinal match, things really heated in the night session with the Florida Goats going up against the New York Atlantics in a battle between two teams who made their PPL debut this year. In the first match of the night, the women's doubles featured Aranzazu Orso (world no. 17) and Gemma Triay (world no. 3) of the Goats taking on Andrea Ustero and Virginia Riera of the Atlantics. Jumping out to a quick lead, Orso/Triay captured the first set 6-3 for the Goats against Ustero/Riera and continued into the second set with an early 3-1 break. Closing out the second set 6-3, Orso/Triay won the match in straight sets to get the Goats one step closer to advancing to Sunday's final.
Bringing the heat in the men's doubles match Saturday night, Martin Di Nenno (world no. 6) and Pablo Lijo took the courts for the Goats with Federico Chingotto (world no. 4) and Luis Campagnolo representing the Atlantics. Grabbing a quick break in the first set for the Goats, Di Nenno/Santos went up 2-0 against Chingotto/Campagnolo, but later were broken back by the Atlantics who forced the first set to a deciding tiebreaker. Eventually winning the first set in a tiebreaker, the Goats were not able to continue the momentum in the second set with Chingotto/Campagnolo making a strong comeback to capture it 6-2. Coming down to a deciding third set tiebreaker, the Atlantics won it 10-2 to even the team matchup 1-1 and force a deciding mixed doubles match to see who would advance to Sunday's final against the Smash.
Taking the court at 10:00 p.m. Saturday night in the first mixed doubles match of the day, and deciding set of play, was Pablo Lima and Gemma Triay of the Goats against Virginia Riera and Federico Chingotto of the Atlantics. With Riera/Chingotto getting an early break and 4-2 lead for the Atlantics, Lima/Triay of the Goats continued to fight hard and later broke back to even the deciding set 5-5. Eventually prevailing though in an extremely close, deciding set, were the Atlantics who defeated the Goats 7-5 to win the team matchup and advance to Sunday's final where they will face the Smash.
With Sunday's final lineup set, the Cancun Waves will take on the Flowrida Goats in the first match of the day, and playoffs for third and fourth place, at 11 a.m. PT. Following this, the highly anticipated final between the Las Vegas Smash – the 2023 defending Champions – and the New York Atlantics will follow on Center Court at 2 p.m. PT. Las Vegas Smash, New York Atlantics Blaze into Sunday Final in San Diego

San Sebastián, July 10, 2025 – Leo Augsburger and Pablo Cardona earned a valuable win for the Flowrida GOATS after defeating Franco Dal Bianco and Álex Ruiz of the Cancún Waves 6-4, 6-3 in another Pro Padel League matchday held Wednesday in San Sebastián.
In a highly intense duel, Augsburger and Cardona set themselves apart from the back of the court with a combination of power and aggression, which proved key to taking the first set 6-4 after an incredible comeback. In the second, the GOATS duo consolidated their dominance with solid defense and excellent tactical awareness, closing out the match 6-3 to secure three crucial points in the team standings.
Despite the loss, Franco and Álex of Cancún Waves showed great chemistry. The match was decided by small details, but both players were very coordinated and knew how to leverage each other's strengths. The result does not take away from the positive impressions left by the Mexican team's men's pair.
With this performance, the Flowrida GOATS strengthen their competitive position on the table and confirm the good form of their main men's duo, who are clear about their goal. "We want to give it our all to go after that title," said Leo after the match. Cardona echoed the sentiment: "We played a great match. Tomorrow we have another intense day, and we want to fight to win this week."
After their interview, they spoke to the media on site and said they get along "very well on and off the court," though they joked about their relationship. "Well, I think we get along better off the court than on it," the Spaniard said with a laugh.
Gemma Triay and Aranza Osoro Start with a Win
Gemma Triay and Aranza Osoro, representing the Flowrida GOATS, defeated Sofía Saiz and Marina Lobo of the Cancún Waves 6-2, 6-3. The Spanish-Argentine duo clearly dominated the first set, setting the tempo from the very first games. In the second set, Saiz and Lobo tried to mount a response but couldn't overcome the solidity of Triay and Osoro, who closed the match in straight sets to secure another win for the Florida team.
The "Viking" expressed her excitement about sharing the court with the player from Menorca in this team competition: "It's very easy to play by her side. I'm very happy to be back in the PPL and to bring the team a victory." Triay, for her part, also showed great appreciation for her partner: "We get along really well, and I have a great time with her. That helps you enjoy it even more. The feelings are wonderful, and I also want to thank the PPL for how well they're running everything."

The <a href="https://propadelleague.com/">Pro Padel League (PPL),</a> North America's first and only professional padel league, is thrilled to share that the Miami Padel Club and Los Angeles BEAT were victorious in the first two events of the 2024 PPL seasoner opener. Taking place at the ULTRA CLUB in Miami from April 2nd-April 7th with all ten teams in action, the PPL showcased exhilarating competition from the world's best professional padel players including two players ranked no. 1 in the world and 11 players ranked top five in the world.
In the 2024 PPL season opener, the Miami Padel Club captured the first event of the year in their hometown defeating the 2023 defending champions, the Las Vegas Smash, with a resounding 2-0 victory. In front of a sold-out crowd at the ULTRA CLUB, the Miami women's duo featuring world no. 1 Ariana Sanchez Fallada and her partner Marta Talavan, secured a straight-set victory 7-6, 6-3 over Marta Ortega/Alejandra Alonso de Villa. Following suit, the Miami men's team including world no. 4 Augustin Tapia and partner Jon Sanz defeated Las Vegas' Gonzalo Alfonso/Pablo Huerta decisively 6-3, 6-3. Taking third place in the first week's event were the New York Atlantics (making their debut this season) who defeated the Toronto Polar Bears 2-0.
"Congratulations to the Miami Padel Club and the Los Angeles BEAT on their respective victories in our opening two events of the season," said Marcos del Pilar, PPL Commissioner. "The atmosphere in Miami was electric, and the competition was extraordinary. The world's top padel players engaged in thrilling and competitive matches, treating fans onsite and watching at home to a couple of incredible weeks of action."
In the PPL's second week-long event, the Los Angeles BEAT made a strong comeback performance from week one advancing to the final after defeating the Toronto Polar Beats in the semifinals in the deciding mixed doubles tiebreaker. Facing the BEAT in the final were the Flowrida Goats who also prevailed from the week two round robin matches at the ULTRA CLUB to advance to the semifinals where they topped the Arkansas Matrix decisively 2-0. 
In Sunday's final, the BEAT's men's doubles team featuring world no. 5 Tolito Aguirre/Javi Leal defeated the Goats' men's duo Pablo Lijo/Victor Ruiz in straight sets 7-6, 6-4. In the women's doubles action, Eli Amatrain and world no. 8 Jessica Castello of the BEAT went the distance with the Goats' women's team Maria Sanchez Alayeto/Aranzazu Osoro (no. 13 in the world) with the Goats' taking the win in the deciding third set tiebreaker 3-6, 6-2, 10-7. With the championship coming down to another deciding mixed doubles matchup, Castello/Aguirre of the BEAT went up against mixed duo Lijo/Osoro of the Goats eventually defeating them 6-4 to capture the trophy for the BEAT. In the playoff for third and fourth place, the Matrix defeated the Polar Bears in a deciding third set tiebreaker.

MATRIX PADEL Purchases Northwest Arkansas  Pro Padel League Franchise

This weekend, Mexican soccer star Miguel Layun was seen courtside watching the PPL season action as things heated up for the final weekend of regular season play. Supporting the Cancun Waves as they took on San Diego, Layun previously played for the Liga MX Club America. A right-back, Layun won two league titles for the Club and represented Mexico at the 2014 and 2018 FIFA World Cups, the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup and two CONCACAF Gold Cups winning the 2015 edition. Layun is now playing with Águilas del América in the first división of the Mexican league.

As Padel continues to gain momentum in North America, the new Miami Padel Club has appointed Argentine tennis legend Juan Martin del Potro as strategic advisor of its ownership group.  At the new franchise of the Pro Padel League (PPL), Juan Martin will advise on sports operations, marketing, and recruitment as they assemble their squad. He'll also help the team identify talent and further raise the visibility of Padel amongst partners, fans, and the community.

Juan Martin made history in 2009 when he beat Roger Federer in the U.S. Open finals. He won his first Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Tour title in 2018 before in Stuttgart, Germany, and he claimed three more victories – among 22-tour level titles. During the 2018 season at the BNP Paribas Open, he reached a career-high ATP Tour Ranking of No. 3. He also made waves at the Olympics in London 2012 and Rio 2016, he won bronze and silver, respectively.

In the 2024 PPL season opener, the Miami Padel Club captured the first event of the year in their hometown defeating the 2023 defending champions, the Las Vegas Smash, with a resounding 2-0 victory. 
In front of a sold-out crowd at the ULTRA CLUB, the Miami women's duo featuring world no. 1 Ariana Sanchez Fallada and her partner Marta Talavan, secured a straight-set victory 7-6, 6-3 over Marta Ortega/Alejandra Alonso de Villa. Following suit, the Miami men's team including world no. 2 Augustin Tapia and partner Jon Sanz defeated Las Vegas' Gonzalo Alfonso/Pablo Huerta decisively 6-3, 6-3.
Playing off for third and fourth place in the first PPL event of the year were the New York Atlantics who defeated the Toronto Polar Bears 2-0.

In addition, the Las Vegas Smash defeated the New York Atlantics 2-1 and the Miami Padel Club fell to the Arkansas Matrix. Other teams victorious on Tuesday at the ULTRA CLIUB were the LA BEAT, Flowrida Goats, and Houston Volts. 
Exciting week two matchups to watch this week include Las Vegas (finalist in week one) vs. Toronto (fourth place finish in week one) who will be in action on Wednesday along with the Los Angeles BEAT who will go head-to-head with the Miami Padel Club in a rematch from last week with LA looking to avenge their loss to Miami. On Thursday, Toronto will also face off in a rematch against New York in order to help secure a spot to advance to this weekend's semifinals.
This week, round robin matches will take place in Miami at ULTRA CLUB from Tuesday, April 9th through Friday, April 12th with semifinals being held Saturday, April 13th and the final on Sunday, April 14th. League Standings:
This past week, 10 teams battled for points to qualify for eight spots in the PPL City's Cup this October, a single-elimination playoff to determine the champion for each division and an overall champion. Overall team points are the sum of a team's men's and women's points earned.
The New York Atlantics lead the league with 40 points –including 25 points for a first place finish in the Women's division and 15 points for a third place finish in the Men's division.

Making a strong statement to start the third week of action at the Sarah Vande Berg Tennis & Wellness Center was the Miami Padel Club, who won their toughest challenge yet against the Las Vegas Smash in the opening team match of the weekend to remain undefeated this season.
The Las Vegas women tested the Miami women's team, but the Miami ladies duo remained victorious in the end. The Las Vegas men made a comeback for the team, defeating the Miami men. In the deciding mixed doubles match, it came down to the third set, an edge-of-your-seat ride all the way to the final shot of match point before Miami prevailed over Las Vegas.
In the second team matchup of the day, the San Diego Stingrays had a major comeback to defeat the Arkansas Matrix after losing the women's doubles match to the strong Arkansas pairing of Cata Tenorio and Egle Petrauskaite. The San Diego men's team went on to tak win and San Diego carried this momentum into the deciding mixed doubles match to capture the team win against Arkansas.
In the final team matchup of the day, the Cancun Waves defeated the Toronto Polar Bears in a strong showing, moving up to third place in the overall standings.

Miami Remains Undefeated Weekend 3 of the Season Heading into Sunday

The <a href="https://propadelleague.com/">Pro Padel League (PPL)</a>, North America's first and only professional padel league, is unveiling the official team rosters and order of play for its highly anticipated 2024 season kicking-off in Miami next week. Starting on Tuesday, April 2nd, at the ULTRA CLUB, this season will feature some of the game's best, and most exciting, professional padel players and powerhouses from around the world competing for a chance to play in the PPL Cup at the end of the year. 
Representing some of the most iconic cities in North America, from April 2nd-7th ten PPL teams will play in the first two events of the 2024 season at ULTRA CLUB in Miami.
The PPL teams competing in the 2024 season include the Las Vegas Smash (2023 Champions), Cancun Waves (2023 Finalists), Miami Padel Club, Flowrida GOATS, San Diego Stingrays, Los Angeles BEAT, Arkansas Matrix, Toronto Polar Bears, New York Atlantics, and Houston Volts.
Taking the court first on opening day at 8:30 a.m. ET in the season's first head-to-head will be the Arkansas Matrix battling the 2023 PPL Finalists the Cancun Waves followed by the Flowrida Goats making their PPL debut against the San Diego Stingrays. PPL Releases Miami Event 1 Schedule and Team Rosters

In the historic, first match of the opening weekend of the PPL season, the Miami Padel Club women's doubles team defeated the Toronto Polars Bears 6-0, 6-1. Following this, Miami's men's doubles team posted another decisive victory of 6-3, 6-2, against Toronto to clinch the team match.
With Miami winning both the men and women games, no mixed match was played.

Miami Defeats Toronto in Historic Opening Team Match of PPL Season

Starting things off Saturday morning was the battle of the two California teams with the San Diego Stingrays taking on the LA Beat! In the first match of the day, the San Diego women's doubles team jumped out to an early start taking the lead against LA. But, after not capturing a match last weekend, the LA women's team fought back hard and ended up taking the W against San Diego in straight sets 6-2, 6-2. In the men's doubles match, San Diego won in straight sets 6-3, 6-3, forcing a deciding mixed doubles match the went to a third set deciding tiebreaker with San Diego coming out victorious after capturing the tiebreaker 10-7 against LA. This was San Diego's second win of the PPL season.
In the second team match-up of the day, the Las Vegas Smash faced the Toronto Polar Bears which also came down to a deciding mixed doubles match and was also the first mixed doubles match for Las Vegas of the season. Las Vegas ended up coming out on top against Toronto in the end to remain undefeated heading into Sunday's team match against Cancun.
In the last team matchup on Saturday between the Arkansas Matrix and Cancun Waves, a rain delay forced them to finish play on Sunday. Showing once again that they are the team that goes the distance, Arkansas put on a show in the men's doubles capturing the win with the Cancun women fighting back hard in their match to even things at one match each and forcing another deciding mixed doubles tiebreaking match. Today, the <a href="https://propadelleague.com/">Pro Padel League</a> (PPL) – North America's first professional Padel league – is excited to announce that former Major League Soccer (MLS) Star and MLS Most Valuable Player, Sebastian Giovinco, has been named a Team Owner of the Toronto Polar Bears. The ownership group includes Josh Garr, President of <a href="https://www.apialarm.com/">a.p.i. ALARM Inc</a>. – Canada's largest private Security Company offering residential and commercial security systems and surveillance systems. Joining Giovinco and Garr in the ownership group will be sports and entertainment industry veteran Rick Di Gironimo, CEO, Group of Companies, including Versus Sports Management & Entertainment and Versus Soccer League, Trio Sportsplex, and the Juventus Academy Toronto.
Giovinco, an Italian former professional soccer player who played as a forward, began his professional career with Italian club Juventus in Serie B in 2006. Signing with the Toronto FC in 2015, the deal made him the League's highest paid player. Among his trophies with the club are three Canadian Championships and the MLS Cup. Individually, he won the MLS Golden Boot, MLS Newcomer of the Year Award, MLS MVP Award, the George Gross Memorial Trophy for the most valuable player of the Canadian Championship, and the CONCACAF Champions League Golden Ball. Giovinco left the Toronto FC as the club's all-time top goal scorer. Later, in 2019, Giovinco joined Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal where he won the AFC Champions League in his first year with the team and the Saudi Pro League and King Cup in his second season. At the international level, Giovinco made his debut with the Italy senior side in 2011 and has since collected over 20 caps. He later took part at UEFA Euro 2012 where he won a runners-up medal. At the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup, Giovinco won a bronze medal.

The PPL's first Player Draft was held on March 20th and received approximately 500 hundred applications from top North American and international players from Australia, Asia, South America, the United Kingdom, and Europe. The PPL's inaugural season will kick-off in May of 2023 with seven teams and conclude with the PPL CUP in June of 2023 where the four best teams will compete for the title.

Joining the ownership group with Garr and Giovinco is Di Gironimo who is a sports and entertainment industry veteran. Since 1992, Di Gironimo has been convening, coordinating, and running leagues for soccer and ball hockey organizations in Ontario. In addition to owning and operating a soccer specialty store (which landed him a position as a national franchise chain retailer) and becoming a facility manager of a sports complex, in 2008 Di Gironimo started his own management company called Versus Sports Management & Entertainment (VSME) and Versus Soccer League. Still overseeing the operations today, VSME currently manages and operates the Adidas soccer fields in affiliation with Adidas Canada along with men's, women's, and youth leagues that have a total membership base of 5,000. Following this in 2010, Di Gironimo opened Trio Sportsplex (a 93,500 square foot complex) and, in 2017, he partnered with one of the biggest soccer clubs in the world, Juventus FC. Di Gironimo now owns and operates the Juventus Academy Toronto player development program along with Giovinco and together are taking the program to another level of professionalism. Later this year, Giovinco and Di Gironimo will be opening the first Padel courts in Toronto called T10 Padel.

The top eight teams in the 2025 PPL overall regular-season standings qualified for the City's Cup Finals, where they will compete in both men's and women's single-elimination tournaments. Each team's men's and women's pairs are seeded based on where they finished in the regular season divisional standings. Matches follow PPL's fast-paced format: best-of-three sets with Golden Point scoring and a 10-point super tiebreak in lieu of a full third set. Each of the eight teams will earn points based on where its men's and women's pairs finish in their respective championship brackets. Men's and women's pairs eliminated in the first round will be placed fifth through eighth based on their respective divisional standings at the conclusion of the regular season. The team with the highest aggregate point total across both divisions will be named 2025 City's Cup Champion.
All matches will be played on a special-edition adidas PPL High Competition Court, featuring a minimalist, pillar-free panoramic structure that enhances player experience and broadcast visibility, specifically designed, engineered, and manufactured by AFP Courts for the PPL City's Cup Finals.

After an opening day packed with emotion, Day 2 kept the momentum high with thrilling women's and men's matchups that showcased the league's international talent and intensity.
The day began with the Houston Volts duo Marta Caparros and Marta Barrera facing Andrea Ustero and Adriana Sánchez from the New York Atlantis. The home team delighted local fans, as Ustero and Sánchez delivered a confident performance to take the win 6-3, 6-2.

The Goats' current roster for the 2026 PPL season features top-ranked women's players Gemma Triay and Paula Josemaría Martín, while the men's side is anchored by stars Leandro Augsburger and Jon Sanz.
While the 2026 PPL season begins in July with five events, the Goats' PPL II team will kick off its campaign March 15 at the Miami Open. Launched earlier this year, PPL II is a player development initiative designed to identify, support, and elevate the next generation of men's and women's padel players in North America. When the Goats take the court at the Miami Open for the inaugural PPL II tournament, they will be led by the No. 1 overall pick in the first-ever PPL II Draft, Vinny Di Francesco, along with second-round selection Miguel Briega. The pair will play their first match against the Los Angeles Beat on Sunday, March 15 at 3 p.m. ET.
The Pro Padel League continues to build momentum as investment and interest in the sport accelerate globally. PPL franchises the New York Atlantics and Los Angeles Beat were recently valued at more than $10 million. Figueras is the latest athlete to invest in a PPL club, joining ATP tennis star Francis Tiafoe and AFC Ajax goalkeeper Maarten Paes. Additionally, prominent investors across sports and business have backed PPL teams and the league, including Edward Rogers, chair of the Toronto Blue Jays and Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, who recently purchased a minority stake in the PPL's Toronto Polar Bears.

Women's world No 8 Sofia Araujo was the highest ranked player picked in this year's highly anticipated Pro Padel League draft.
The 29-year-old Portuguese star, who was a member of the winning Hexagon Cup team earlier this month, was selected by the San Diego Stingrays who had the third pick in the first round of the 2024 PPL Draft.
Having picked the highest ranked player, the Stingrays surprised everyone with their second round choice – Great Britain's Louie Harris who is ranked 446th in the world. However, the 21-year-old had a strong domestic season and was named the LTA No.1 male in December.
The 2023 PPL Champions, the Las Vegas Smash, went for 27-year-old Argentinean Gonzalo Alfonso and 24-year-old Spaniard Ignacio Vilarino, who is ranked 59th in the world.
2023 PPL Finalists, the Cancun Waves, who will be looking to go one further this year, went for the experienced Carolina Navarro as their first pick. They will be hoping the 47-year-old Swedish veteran, ranked 30th in the world, will bring her winning touch to the team. Navarro is one of padel's most successful players. She was the women's world . 1 for nine years and has won 100 international titles. Also joining the Mexican-based team, is Spain's 27-year-old Salva Oria who is 107th in the men's rankings.
This season's newcomers the Houston Volts, New York Atlantics and Flowrida Goats all had the opportunity to draft three players, courtesy of having the first picks in the expansion round. However, only the Volts drafted a full quota of three players with the Atlantics and Goats passing in the second round.
The Volts, the newest franchise to the PPL, went for a trio of young Spaniards who are expected to be amongst the next generation of stars. Claudia Fernandez Sanchez had the honor of being the first pick in the draft from more than 300 hopefuls. Sanchez, who turns 18-years-old later this month, is already ranked 24th in the world. She will be joined by 20-year-old Francisco Guerrero who is ranked 53rd in the men's standings with 22-year-old Marta Caparros completing the trio. She is currently ranked 35th in the world.
In contrast to the Volts, The Goats went for experience as they drafted Victor Ruiz who is the highest ranked male picked. The 34-year-old Spaniard is currently ranked 16th. He was joined by 40-something Nicolas Clerc, who is making a return to the PPL having played for Los Angeles Beat last season. Clerc is the USA Seniors Team Coach.
The Atlantics have the youngest player in the 2024 Draft selecting Spain's Andrea Ustero, who had her 16th birthday in December 2023. However, the teenager belies her age and is already ranked inside the world's top 40. Their second pick was also very astute as they recruited 34-year-old Argentinean Ramiro Moyana Toledo who is ranked 24th.
This season, there will be a return to PPL for Daniela Ruiz who was the final pick in the draft. The 27-year-old American, a member of the USA team at the 2022 World Championships and plays her padel in the US, will again wear the team colors of Toronto Polar Bears. The Canadian side had the honor of the opening pick in round one and selected Spanish 17-year-old Noemi Aguilar who is ranked 66th in the world.
For the Los Angeles Beat, they used the draft wisely with two solid picks. Spain's Jon Sanz, who is pushing for a spot in the world's top 20 men's rankings, will be joined by 22-year-old Italian Carolina Orsi. Italy's No 1 female player is currently ranked 27th in the world. 
The Miami Padel Club gave Spain's Jose Jimenez an early 20th birthday present when they chose him in the second round. The Spaniard, who is ranked just outside the men's top 100, celebrates his birthday next week. He will be joined by fellow Spaniard and women's world no 21, Lucia Martinez Gomez.
Finally, the Arkansas Matrix is another team who have put their faith in a Spanish duo in the draft. Their first pick was Araceli Martinez who is ranked 45th in women's standings. They also chose 23-year-old Inigo Jofre, who is currently sitting at 94 in the men's list.
A total of 21 players were drafted – 11 women and 10 men. Players from seven different countries were chosen, 14 of them Spanish.
Following the draft, Marcos del Pilar, co-founder and commissioner of the Pro Padel League said: 
"We could not be more excited to have some of the best players in the history of the game choosing to compete in the PPL this season. The PPL was created to highlight the amazing sport of padel for North American consumers and, as a byproduct of this, we are thrilled that the sport will grow along with our league. With the completion of the 2024 PPL Draft, we are now set for an incredible season of competition to start in April."
The league, which has secured a $1m prize purse for the 2024 season, will feature four rounds of matches, two in April and two in August, before the PPL Cup final in November.

Belcastro retired in 2016 and continues to enjoy direct investing and consulting with ultra-high net worth friends and families.
The PPL is the next major sports league to make Las Vegas home. Over the last five years, <a href="https://www.reviewjournal.com/business/explosion-of-sports-in-las-vegas-attracting-attention-of-sports-retailers-2727578/">Las Vegas has welcomed several professional sports teams</a> including the NHL's Las Vegas Golden Knights (2017), the WNBA's Las Vegas Aces (2018), and the NFL's Las Vegas Raiders (2020.) In addition, Las Vegas will host the inaugural Formula One Las Vegas Grand Prix in November of 2023 and, in 2024, will host the Super Bowl followed by the NCAA Final Four in 2028. 
"Las Vegas is a premier location for the League to expand their presence with the Las Vegas team and grow the Padel community in the U.S.," said Marcos Del Pilar, PPL League Commissioner. "Padel is the next major sport to be a part of the city's explosive growth of professional sports."
Maloof, a member of the prominent Maloof family from Las Vegas, is known for his family's longstanding business success in the United States beginning with the distribution rights for Coors Brewing in the 1930s. Following this, Maloof and his family were owners of the National Basketball Association (NBA) team the Houston Rockets from 1979-1982 with the Rockets making the NBA Finals in 1981. Additionally, they were owners of the Sacramento Kings NBA team from 1998-2013 and are currently minority owners of the National Hockey League (NHL) team the Vegas Golden Knights who made it to the Stanley Cup Final in their premiere season (2018). In 2008, Maloof founded the Maloof Money Cup with his brother Joe Maloof for both professional and amateur skateboarders.

PPL Announces Las Vegas Franchise Acquisition, Ownership Group to Include Gavin Maloof

Padel, a growing racquet sport, is set to make its debut in Tampa Bay with the Pro Padel League (PPL) holding its inaugural season at the Sarah Vande Berg Tennis & Wellness Center in Zephyrhills. The PPL, North America's first professional padel league, will begin on May 13 and take place over five weekends, with the championship weekend scheduled for June 10-11. Padel, a popular sport in Spain and globally, is a hybrid of tennis, squash, and pickleball. The league will feature 84 players from teams representing Arkansas, Cancun, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, San Diego, and Toronto.

Padel, a racket-based sport similar to tennis and squash, is set to take off in Canada with the launch of the North American Pro Paddle League. Padel is already popular in Europe and South America, and the league aims to expand the sport in North America. The league held its inaugural draft earlier this year, with seven franchises selecting from 500 players worldwide. The final roster of each team will include four players, two men and two women, and four alternates. The Toronto Polar Bears are the league's first and only Canadian team, and former Toronto FC midfielder Sebastian Giovinco is one of its owners. 
The padel rackets have foam on the interior and carbon composite on the exterior, and padel courts are surrounded by glass walls. The pro padel league season starts in May and ends in June, with the winning team receiving the PPL cup.

It was an exhilarating opening weekend of competition for the inaugural season of the PPL! The Miami Padel Club made a strong statement of intent early on the first day of play, winning both the men's and women's matches against the Toronto Polar Bears. The Cancun Waves and LA Beat then went head-to-head in a long-drawn battle of intense Padel action, with both the men's and women's matches ultimately swinging in favor of Cancun. The final match of the day saw the women's teams from the Las Vegas Smash and Arkansas Matrix face off, with Arkansas ultimately taking the win. Matrix player Egle Petrauskaite gave everything and more that she had in the match, and, after capturing match point with her teammate Cata Tenorio, her teammates needed to help her off the court due to the leg cramps she was suffering from.
Sunday began with the Arkansas vs. Vegas Men's match, which had been delayed by rain on Saturday night. With Vegas capturing the match, it led to the first-ever Mixed Double's Tiebreaker in the history of the PPL, with Vegas taking the win. Meanwhile, the San Diego Stingrays played their first match of the weekend against the Toronto Polar Bears with the Stingrays getting the win in both the men's and women's matches. The Miami Padel Club then took on the Cancun Waves who offered some tough competition for the Miami, leading to some of the most exciting rallies and points of the weekend. Miami ultimately took the win in both the men's and women's matches. After a short break, the Arkansas Matrix then returned to the court, this time against the Los Angeles Beat. Arkansas won the women's match and LA won the men's match, leading to the second mixed tiebreaker of the weekend. The sun quickly faded during the mixed match though, resulting in Arkansas's favor under the court lights. With both of their matches going to a mixed tiebreaker, the Arkansas players ultimately spent a collective total of 23 hours on court during weekend one.
After the first weekend of play, Miami currently remains undefeated and leads the season scoreboard as we head into weekend two starting May 20th.

This week, the World Padel Tour (WPT) held their last competition in history, bringing the best players in the world to Barcelona one last time at the WPT Masters.
With the top 16 players competing for the title in each draw, two PPL players were in at the WPT Masters including Federico Chingotto (New York Atlantics) in the men's draw and Aranzazu Osoro (Flowrida Goats) in the women's draw.
Prior to the start of the event, Chingotto and his partner Pacquito Navarro announced their plans to go their separate ways. Their dream though, before ending their career together, was to win the WPT Masters. After reaching the finals of numerous events before the Master's Final, this was also Navarro's first run in ten years towards capturing a non-title season, and the team's last chance to win a title together.
Reaching the finals after a stellar performance in the semifinals, Chingotto/Navarro lost only one game in the first set against Ale Galan and Juan Lebron (who have won five out of the eight WPT titles since the summer) in the final. Following a close second set with breaks of serve exchanged between the teams, Paquito/Navarro prevailed winning 6-1, 6-4, to capture the WPT Masters and achieve their dream together.
In the women's draw, Aranzazu Osoro (Flowrida Goats) and her partner Jessica Castello reached the women's final after an impressive run in the draw and by defeating Gemma Triay and Marta Ortega in the semifinals. Going up against Delfi Brea and Bea Gonzalez in the championship match, Brea/Gonzalez used their skillful play and stable game to defeat Castello/Osoro 6-4, 6-1, and win their fourth straight title together.

PPL San Diego Final Now Airing on Bally Sports

Following the 2024 PPL season schedule and $1 million prize money purse announced, the PPL is set to hold their 2024 Player Draft on Tuesday, February 13th, at 12:00 p.m. PT/3:00 p.m. ET. 
Taking place virtually, the PPL Draft will consist of three rounds including:

For the 2024 season, the maximum team roster size will increase to 12 players from ten in 2023 and the number of international players has been increased to eight international players per team.
The three expansion teams who will draft first include Orlando, New York, and the recently announced Houston franchise. In Round 1, all ten participating teams will draft and are ordered by reverse order of the finish in the 2023 season followed by the expansion teams ordered in reverse order from the expansion team round.
Round 2 will be structured as a snake draft with the team that picked last in Round 1 selecting first in Round 2.
Upon conclusion of the 2024 PPL Draft, a detailed recap of the team selections will be available online and social media.

PPL Set to Hold 2024 Player Draft

With the 2024 season set to start on April 2nd, today the PPL is unveiling the team groupings for PPL Event 1 in addition to the matchups and schedule for Miami.
The five PPL teams who will compete against each other in the White Group to earn a spot in the semifinals include the San Diego Stingrays, Toronto Polar Bears, Miami Padel Club, Los Angeles Beat, and the Flowrida Goats, who will be in action for the first time this season.
The Gold Group will include 2023 Champions the Las Vegas Smash along with the Cancun Waves, Arkansas Matrix, and the newest franchises to the league – the New York Atlantics and Houston Volts.
For the opening day of play, White Group matchups will feature San Diego vs. Orlando, Toronto vs. Miami, and Orlando vs. Los Angeles. First round Gold Group matchups will see the New York Atlantics take on the Arkansas Matrix in addition to Houston vs. Las Vegas, and Arkansas vs. Cancun.
The tournament format for PPL Event 1 will consist of each team playing every other team in their group once, and the top two teams in each group advancing to the semifinals. Winners of the semifinal matches will play in the championship, while the losing semifinal teams will play for third and fourth place. All team matches will consist of three matches including men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles.

Each regular season event will have all 10 teams – Arkansas Matrix, Cancun Waves, Flowrida Goats, Houston Volts, Las Vegas Smash, Los Angeles Beat, Miami Padel Club, New York Atlantics, San Diego Stingrays, Toronto Polar Bears – competing in group stage play in both men's and women's divisions. The top four teams in each division after the group stage move on to contend for first, second and third place podium finishes and prize money. All matches follow a fast-paced format — best-of-three sets with unique padel rules like "Golden Point" scoring and a 10-point tiebreaker in place of a full third set.
The PPL season will include men's, women's and overall team standings determined by total points accumulated. Points are awarded based on the finishing position in the men's and women's divisions at each event. Overall team points at each event will be the sum of a team's men's and women's points earned.
PPL Regular Season Event Points System:
The top eight teams in the overall points standings at the end of the regular season will see its men's and women's teams qualify for the PPL City's Cup, a single-elimination playoff to determine the champion for each division and an overall champion based on total points accumulated.
Additionally, the league will host its first-ever PPL All-Star Festival in The Hamptons (August 30-September 1), featuring Pro-Ams, celebrity exhibitions, and local community clinics.

The Houston Volts to Make their Debut at the first PPL All-Star Game November 18th
Today, the <a href="https://propadelleague.com/">Pro Padel League (PPL),</a> North America's first professional padel league, is announcing the acquisition of the Houston franchise by Sergio Ortiz and partners. Ortiz is the former United States Padel Association President (USPA) and current President, and CEO, of Sports Facilities Investment Group headquartered in Woodlands, Texas.
The tenth PPL franchise purchased since 2022, the Houston Volts have appointed Juani Mieres as Sports Advisor to the team with Diego Pezzoni named their Head Coach. Miernes is the former No. 1 ranked player on the World Padel Tour (WPT), former No. 2 WPT player for six years, four-time World Champion, winner of 22 WPT titles, and eight-time Spanish Champion. Pezzoni has been the USA Junior Padel Team Head Coach since 2019.

<li>Ivan Rodriguez: 22-years-old who is a two-time Junior World Champion in U16 and in 2020 was nominated as a revelation player for his outstanding padel career to date.</li>

<li>Alex Chozas: 20-years-old who was the 2023 Champion at the V Panamerican Absolute Championship in Venezuela with team Argentina. Along with this, Chozas was the Champion at the A1 Padel CMB Mónaco Master in 2023.</li>

Pro Padel League Announces First Player Draft

The <a href="https://propadelleague.com/">Pro Padel League</a> (PPL) today announced its comprehensive global distribution plan for the 2024 season openers that enables fans across North America and around the globe to watch the top male and female professional players compete in the league's first two events, which begins on Tuesday, April 2, at the ULTRA CLUB in Miami.

Starting Monday, August 19th, round robin matches will take place through Friday, August 23rd, with the semifinals being held Saturday, August 24th and the final on Sunday, August 25th. The competition format will include men's doubles, women's doubles, and a mixed doubles match.

Pro Padel League Announces Launch of their Player Draft

The Pro Padel League, North America's only professional padel league, and <a href="https://realturf.com/us/artificial-grass/sport/paddle-tennis/">Realturf</a>, a market leader in artificial grass, are announcing a new sponsorship agreement naming Realturf the official playing surface of the PPL. A multi-year agreement, Realturf will be the official turf of the PPL starting at the upcoming PPL season events in August through the PPL Cup Championships in 2026.
"Artificial grass by and for the players," Realturf develops high performance artificial turf for professionals as well as private clubs. Their different padel turf products have been developed according to the EFF standards, and the suitability to practice this sport has been tested in independent laboratories. 
As part of their sponsorship with the PPL, Realturf will collaborate with the League on unique and innovative, PPL specific court turf and turf designs.

Flinn brings nearly three decades of C-suite experience leading brand, marketing, content, digital, data, and business transformation across sports, entertainment, and media companies including World Wrestling Entertainment, the National Basketball Association, and the New York Knicks.
