LOS ANGELES, CA (August 17, 2026) – The Pro Padel League (PPL), the world’s leading professional padel league, continued its 2026 season this weekend with its first-ever Los Angeles event at Santa Monica’s iconic Barker Hangar, where four days of elite competition featured all 10 PPL teams and more than 40 of the world’s top men’s and women’s players.
The Mexico Waves, represented by David Gala and Maximiliano Arce, captured the men’s championship with a 6-4, 3-6, 10-2 victory over the Florida Goats. In the women’s championship, the DC Matrix, represented by Marina Guinart Espana and Araceli Martinez Ibanez, defeated the Houston Volts 6-3, 2-6, 11-9 to claim the title as teams continued their push toward The Finals in December.
The Toronto Polar Bears, represented by Mario Huete Hernandez and Alejandro “Alex” Ruiz, secured third place in the men’s competition with a 3-6, 6-3, 10-5 victory over the DC Matrix. The New York Atlantics, represented by Sofia Saiz Vallejo and Marta Talavan, earned third place in the women’s competition, defeating the Florida Goats 4-6, 7-6, 10-7.
Beyond the competition at Barker Hangar, PPL’s Los Angeles debut extended across the city throughout the week with eight events connecting the league with local clubs, players and fans. PPL II, the league’s player development competition, was also held at Padel Up in Culver City, creating an additional platform for emerging talent alongside the league’s main event.
The weekend drew a star-studded crowd, including Jamie Foxx, Tyler Posey, Alexis Knapp, Malcolm Kelner and soccer legend Jorge Campos, among other notable guests.
The high-profile Los Angeles stop also generated significant media attention throughout the week, with coverage across Modern Luxury, TMZ, People and E!, as well as live television coverage from KTLA at Barker Hangar. The weekend culminated with championship coverage on CNBC as part of PPL’s 2026 national broadcast partnership with USA Sports.
Los Angeles marked the second stop of the 2026 PPL season, following the season opener at New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom. The season continues with events in Playa del Carmen (Sept. 24–27) and Guadalajara (Nov. 19–22) before concluding in Miami, where the league will crown the men’s, women’s and overall champions Dec. 3–6.
