Four PPL II pairings have qualified for the Preliminary Round of The Finals, December 3–6 at the James L. Knight Center in Miami.
New York Atlantics and Florida Goats will be represented in the men’s division, with Las Vegas Smash and Toronto Polar Bears represented in the women’s division. On Thursday, December 3, the qualifiers will face the league’s seventh and eighth ranked franchises for places in the quarterfinals.
Their qualification marks a milestone for PPL II, which launched this season to develop North America–based talent and create a pathway to compete against the league’s best. After four regular-season stops in Miami, New York, Los Angeles and Playa del Carmen, the stage is set for that first test in Miami.
New York and Florida Advance in the Men’s Division
New York Atlantics finished atop the men’s standings with 24 points, winning titles in New York and Playa del Carmen and finishing runners-up in Miami. Jaime Fermosell, Juan Manuel Arganaras and Jose Carlos Gaspar Campos contributed throughout the campaign, with the Atlantics’ victory at the final stop moving them ahead of Florida to finish first.
Florida Goats, led by Vinny Di Francesco and Miguel Briega Ramos, secured the second qualifying spot with 18 points and titles in Miami and Los Angeles earlier in the season.
Las Vegas and Toronto Earn the Women’s Berths
Las Vegas Smash topped the women’s standings with 22 points. Luicelena Perez and Anna Tapias Cortiles won titles in Miami and Los Angeles and finished third in New York and Playa del Carmen, earning a podium finish at every stop.
Toronto Polar Bears, represented by Carla Rodriguez Sanchez and Jordana Lujan, claimed the second berth with 20 points after reaching all four championship matches.
