PPL Announces Team Groupings for Final 2024 Regular Season Event with

Top-Ranked Teams Going Head-to-Head Throughout the Week

AAUGUST 15, 2024, SAN DIEGO – Today, the Pro Padel League (PPL), North America’s first and only professional padel league, is announcing their Order of Play for their final 2024 regular season event taking place in San Diego at the award-winning Barnes Tennis Center. Set to start on Monday, August 19th, padel’s biggest global superstars will headline the opening day of play including Federico Chingotto (world no. 4) making his PPL season debut for the New York Atlantics along with Gonzalo Alfonso (world no. 1 doubles team) of the Las Vegas Smash, Tolito Aguirre (world no.1 doubles team) of the Los Angeles BEAT, and Martin Di Nenno (world no. 6) of the Flowrida Goats.

“Our PPL event in San Diego is going to have unbelievable competition from the game’s biggest stars, including two world number one players,” said Marcos del Pilar, PPL Commissioner. “Throughout the week, we will have incredible matches and exciting entertainment showcasing the high caliber of players a part of the League. The PPL has tremendous momentum right now and is continuing to attract worldwide interest while growing the game across North America.”

Starting Monday, August 19th, with round robin matches taking place through Friday, August 23rd, the semifinals will be held Saturday, August 24th and the final on Sunday, August 25th. The competition format will include men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and a mixed doubles match.

The opening day of play on Centre Court will feature an exciting matchup between the Las Vegas Smash and their top players Marta Ortega (world no. 6 and former world no. 1) along with Gonzalo Alfonso (world no. 1) taking on the Flowrida Goats’ stellar roster of players including Gemma Triay Pons (world no. 3), Martin Di Nenno (world no. 6), and Aranzazu Osoro (world no. 17). In addition, the Miami Padel Club and their top-ranked American players Jose Arizpe (no. 9 in the U.S.) and Paloma Cortina (no. 6 in the U.S.) will go up against the Toronto Polar Bears featuring Coki Nieto (world no. 17) and Victoria Iglesias (world no. 28) on Grandstand in the other opening match of the day.

Following this, the Arkansas Matrix including top player Patricia Llaguno Zielinski (world no. 13) will face the rising stars on the Houston Volts including Claudia Jensen (world no. 12) and Claudia Fernández (world no.7).  In the last match of the day on Centre Court, global padel star Federico Chingotto (world no. 4) will make his PPL season debut for the New York Atlantics when they go up against the Cancun Waves who has Alejandra Salazar (world no. 10) on their roster.

On Tuesday, the League’s top-ranked team, the Los Angeles BEAT, will play first match on Grandstand against the Cancun Waves when top-ranked padel players Tolito Aguirre (world no.1) and Jessica Castello (world no. 8) of the BEAT take on Carlos Daniel Gutierrez (world no. 10) and Veronica Versada (world no. 15) who is also a top player on the Cancun Waves. In the first match of the day on Centre Court, the highly anticipated matchup between the Miami Padel Club and the New York Atlantics will take place.

Other exciting matches set to take place throughout the week include a showdown on Wednesday between the top two teams in the League when the Los Angeles BEAT (no. 1) goes head-to-head with the Miami Padel Club (no. 2).

With the ten PPL teams representing some of the most iconic cities in North America at Taktika Padel, they will compete for a chance to qualify for the PPL Cup in November.

Group A – White Group:

Group B – Gold Group:

  • Team 1: Los Angeles (no. 1)
  • Team 2: Miami (no. 2)
  • Team 3: Cancun (no. 10)
  • Team 4: New York (no. 6)
  • Team 5: Toronto (no. 7)

Showcasing the game’s best padel players and powerhouses, over 60% of the players in the PPL are ranked top 50 in the world. Concluding the final PPL regular season event in San Diego, the top eight teams in the League standings will advance to the PPL Cup being held in November. Tickets are now available and include general admission, reserved seating, VIP, and week-long passes.
