AUGUST 22, 2024, SAN DIEGO – This week, the Pro Padel League (PPL)’s final 2024 regular season event is off to a successful start with the world’s best padel players competing in San Diego. Boasting record attendance at Taktika Padel located at the award-winning Barnes Tennis Center, the opening days of action showcased the league’s ten teams going head-to-head for a chance to qualify for the PPL Cup in November. In addition, some of the game’s biggest global superstars made their PPL debut including Federico Chingotto (world no. 4) for the New York Atlantics along with Gonzalo Alfonso (world no. 1 doubles team) of the Las Vegas Smash, Tolito Aguirre (world no. 1 doubles team) of the Los Angeles BEAT, and Martin Di Nenno (world no. 6) of the Flowrida Goats.
“The competition has been unbelievable so far in San Diego with amazing matchups taking place every day,” said Marcos del Pilar, PPL Commissioner. “We are seeing the highest level of the sport being played and incredibly exciting, and entertaining, competition from the game’s best players. The grounds at Tatika Padel are electric and you can feel the energy amongst the players and fans on-site.”
Still to come this week in the round robin competition taking place through Friday, August 23rd, are many important and thrilling matchups including the hometown team, the San Diego Stingrays (no. 9), taking on the always tough Las Vegas Smash (no. 3) second match on Center Court, Thursday. Following this on Thursday, the league’s top ranked teams – the Los Angeles BEAT (no. 1) and the Miami Padel Club (no. 2) – will bring the heat in the night session with the top ranked players in the world taking the court including Tolito Aguirre (world no.1) and Jessica Castello (world no. 8) of the BEAT.
Friday’s final day of round robin competition on Friday will feature the Flowrida Goats (no. 4) going up against the Arkansas Matrix (no. 5) and will showcase the Goats’ stellar roster of players such as Gemma Triay Pons (world no. 3), Martin Di Nenno (world no. 6), and Aranzazu Osoro (world no. 17).
Following this, the semifinals will be held Saturday, August 24th with the final on Sunday, August 25th. The competition format includes men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and a mixed doubles match. Tickets are now available and include general admission, reserved seating, VIP, and week-long passes.

In addition, platforms delivering live, daily, coverage from the PPL’s event in San Diego include the Tennis Channel on T2 and TC International, DAZN, Game+, FOX Sports Argentina, Eurovision and Roku Sports amongst others. Additionally, Bally Sports will have daily tape delayed coverage throughout the U.S. and Canada in September and October of this year.
The mission of the PPL is to create the most compelling version of padel for sports fans in North America with the new league providing the biggest stage for professional padel players across the continent.
