The Pro Padel League (PPL), the world’s top professional padel league with 10 teams across the United States, Canada and Mexico, has announced its first-ever activation at the Miami Open presented by Itaú, bringing world-class padel – and crossover appearances by some of tennis’ biggest stars – to one of the most prominent and glamorous stops on the ATP and WTA calendar.
The PPL will kick off its slate of activations at the Miami Open by hosting its inaugural PPL II tournament from March 15–18, giving fans a unique opportunity to experience the next generation of professional padel players up close. Launched last month, the PPL II is a new player development initiative designed to identify, support, and elevate the next generation of men’s and women’s PPL players in North America. The four-day tournament at the Miami Open will serve as the first major competition for padel’s rising stars selected during the first-ever PPL II Draft which was held on February 26.
From March 15–29, the PPL will take center stage with all-day programming including exhibition matches, crossover moments with tennis stars, private padel clinics, influencer activations, open court times in the Publix Padel Park, and fan-friendly activations designed to showcase padel at the highest level. “We are extremely excited to get PPL II play underway and are grateful for our partners at the Miami Open for their support in creating an incredible atmosphere to spotlight the sport of padel through our many fan-friendly activations,” said PPL CEO Mike Dorfman. “Through our recent PPL II Draft, our clubs identified and selected an impressive group of elite players and we know fans at the Open are going to love experiencing the thrilling action that this next-generation of stars brings to the court.”
“Padel is one of the world’s fastest-growing sports and we’re thrilled to have the Pro Padel League debut PPL II at the Miami Open,” said James Blake, tournament director of the Miami Open presented by Itaú. “Fans will have a unique opportunity to play on the same courts as the next generation of professional padel players, which is an exciting addition to our action-packed campus.”
In 2026, the PPL II’s 10 teams will consist of five men’s pairings and five women’s pairings, each operated by one of the PPL’s 10 Clubs. The PPL II features the most talented padel players in North America, as newly drafted athletes taking the court in Miami include No.1-ranked American pros Brittany Dubins and Vinny Di Francesco, and top-ranked Mexican pros Matias Almada and Renata Martinez.
