San Sebastián, July 10, 2025 – Before the best players in the world took to the court to try to lead their teams to glory, the central court at the Real Club de Tenis hosted an activation event that served as the official inauguration of the spectacular tournament taking place in San Sebastián. The morning brought together major figures from football and padel in a relaxed, competitive, and highly engaging atmosphere.
Xabi Prieto and Fernando Llorente entered the court accompanied by professional padel players Jon Sanz and Álex Ruiz. After a brief photo session on court, an exciting super tiebreak got underway, with the Sanz/Prieto pair facing Ruiz/Llorente, delivering a vibrant exhibition for those in attendance. The level of play from the former footballers surprised many spectators, who enjoyed this exhibition match.
Immediately afterward, two other padel superstars accepted Xabi and Fernando’s challenge. Agustín Tapia and Fede Chingotto stepped onto the court wearing the Miami Padel Club colors to play two more super tiebreaks: first, Llorente/Prieto took on Tapia/Chingotto; then, the teams mixed for a fun match with Llorente/Chingotto versus Prieto/Tapia. They concluded by exchanging jerseys in a gesture of camaraderie among four legends of their respective sports.
However, Llorente and Prieto didn’t leave center court just yet, as they also had an appointment with two of the best female players in the world. Martita Ortega and Gemma Triay, who had watched the conclusion of the second tiebreak, also took to the 20×10 court to put the Athletic Club and Real Sociedad icons to the test.
The event was a resounding success, proving that sport unites, entertains, and inspires—especially when great names, passion, and an engaged audience come together.
