Today’s Match Highlights:
Houston Volts vs. Las Vegas Smash
After going 1-1 in group play on Thursday, Las Vegas captured the first win of the day as Sofia Araujo and Marta Ortega won a tough two set victory over Houston’s Marta Berrera and Marta Caparros, 6-4, 7-5.
In the Men’s Division, Houston won their first match of the weekend as Berto Trabanco and Pepe Aliaga held on to a close win over Las Vegas’ Gonzalo Alfonso and Xisco Gil, 6-3, 7-5.
San Diego Stingrays vs. Flowrida Goats
In the Women’s Division, Flowrida’s Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea continued their winning ways with a dominant 6-0, 6-1, win over San Diego’s Veronica Virseda and Lucia Sainz cruising to a chance to play for the championship on Sunday.
In the Men’s Division, Pablo Cardona and Leo Augsburger helped Flowrida stay undefeated in group play edging San Diego’s Maxi Sanchez and Jairo Bautista in a three set thriller, 6-2, 3-6, 10-7.
New York Atlantics vs. Miami Padel Club
Ariana Sanchez and Andrea Ustero continued New York’s impressive play, defeating Miami Padel Club’s Jessica Castello, 6-0, 6-1 to go 2-0 in group play, earning a spot in the final.
In a razor tight match, Miami Padel Club’s Agustin Tapia and Eduardo Alonso beat New York’s Lucas Campagnolo and Jon Sanz 6-3, 3-6, 10-6, to secure a place in Sunday’s final.
Los Angeles Beat vs. Arkansas Matrix
Arkansas’ Bea Caldera and Patty Llaguna fought back to win in a tie-break over Los Angeles’ Julia Polo and Martina Fassio, 4-6, 6-0, 10-4.
In the final match of the night, Arkansas’ Inigo Jofre and Alex Arroya topped Los Angeles’ Pablo Lijo and Alvaro Cepero in three sets 4-6, 7-6, 10-7.
From June 19 to 22, 10 teams are battling for points to qualify for eight spots in the PPL City’s Cup this October, a single-elimination playoff to determine the champion for each division and an overall champion.
