Today was the second day of Pro Padel League Miami featuring the best players in the world.
From June 19 to 22, 10 teams are battling for points to qualify for eight spots in the PPL City’s Cup this October, a single-elimination playoff to determine the champion for each division and an overall champion. Current standings are available here.
Match Highlights:
New York Atlantics vs. Los Angeles Beat (2-0)
In women’s doubles, New York’s Andrea Ustero and Ariana Sanchez kicked off the session defeating LA’s Julia Polo and Barbara Las Heras in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2.
In men’s doubles, New York’s Lucas Campagnolo and Jon Sanz continued the Atlantic’s dominance winning an easy first set, before stopping LA’s Pablo Lijo and Alvaro Cepero in a second set tie break, winning the match, 6-2, 7-6.
Houston Volts vs. San Diego Stingrays (0-2)
In women’s doubles, Lucia Sainz and Veronica Virseda powered San Diego to a victory against Houston’s Lore Rufo and Marta Barrera, 6-4, 6-1.
In men’s doubles, San Diego stayed hot with Jairo Bautista and Alex Chozas winning in straight sets over Houston’s Ivantxo Ramirez and Berto Trabanco, 7-6, 6-3.
Flowrida Goats vs. Arkansas Matrix (2-0)
In women’s doubles, Flowrida’s Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea downed Arkansas’ Araceli Martinez and Bea Caldera in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4.
In men’s doubles, Flowrida continued their dominance, winning 7-6, 6-3, behind powerful performances by Pablo Cardona and Leandro Ausburger against Arkansas’ Alex Arroyo and Gonzalo Rubio.
Cancun Waves vs. Toronto Polar Bears (2-0)
In women’s doubles, Cancun cruised to a dominant win as Marina Lobo and Sofia Saiz routed Marina Guinart and Victoria Iglesias from Toronto in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0.
In men’s doubles, Cancun again won in straight sets with Franco Dal Bianco and Maxi Arce defeating Pincho Fernandez and Mario Huete, 6-1, 6-2.
