Miami, New York, Toronto, and LA Headline Week 2 Matchups at ULTRA CLUB

In the 2024 PPL season opener, the Miami Padel Club captured the first event of the year in their hometown defeating the 2023 defending champions, the Las Vegas Smash, with a resounding 2-0 victory. 

In front of a sold-out crowd at the ULTRA CLUB, the Miami women’s duo featuring world no. 1 Ariana Sanchez Fallada and her partner Marta Talavan, secured a straight-set victory 7-6, 6-3 over Marta Ortega/Alejandra Alonso de Villa. Following suit, the Miami men’s team including world no. 2 Augustin Tapia and partner Jon Sanz defeated Las Vegas’ Gonzalo Alfonso/Pablo Huerta decisively 6-3, 6-3.

Playing off for third and fourth place in the first PPL event of the year were the New York Atlantics who defeated the Toronto Polar Bears 2-0.

In addition to the thrilling on-court action showcasing the best professional padel players and powerhouses in the game, the first PPL event of the year brought out some of Miami’s hottest celebrities including the “King of Reggaeton” Daddy Yankee (Flowrida Goats owner) and multi-platinum reggaeton artist Gente de Zona who were seen courtside at the ULTRA CLUB over the weekend.

With the second PPL event of the 2024 season underway in Miami, all ten teams are back in action this week. Winning their opening round of player of week two in Miami on Tuesday were the Toronto Polar Bears taking down the 2023 finalists the Cancun Waves 3-0. In addition, the Las Vegas Smash defeated the New York Atlantics 2-1 and the Miami Padel Club fell to the Arkansas Matrix. Other teams victorious on Tuesday at the ULTRA CLIUB were the LA BEAT, Flowrida Goats, and Houston Volts. 

Exciting week two matchups to watch this week include Las Vegas (finalist in week one) vs. Toronto (fourth place finish in week one) who will be in action on Wednesday along with the Los Angeles BEAT who will go head-to-head with the Miami Padel Club in a rematch from last week with LA looking to avenge their loss to Miami. On Thursday, Toronto will also face off in a rematch against New York in order to help secure a spot to advance to this weekend’s semifinals.

This week, round robin matches will take place in Miami at ULTRA CLUB from Tuesday, April 9th through Friday, April 12th with semifinals being held Saturday, April 13th and the final on Sunday, April 14th. For week two’s detailed schedule and tickets, visit the PPL site
