As the PPL’s historical, inaugural season comes to an end, we are excited to share that the PPL has been nominated for a World Padel Award in the “Best Innovation” category!
Presented by Padel Spain, the World Padel Awards recognize the most outstanding leaders in their sector and those who are having an impact on the sport and its growth throughout the year. Candidates in each category are nominated by an Advisory Committee of recognized prestige within the world of padel, and winners in each category will be chosen based on those with the most number of votes by fans and supporters around the world.
In 2023, the PPL created the most compelling version of padel for sports fans in North America with the new league providing the biggest stage for aspiring padel players across the continent. With seven franchises competing in their first season of play, the PPL has grown to ten franchises ahead of the 2024 season starting.
Recently holding their All-Star Game, the PPL is the first of its kind, and the only professional padel tour in the world, to feature team-based competition in a unique and engaging, city-based, franchise format.
Global celebrities and professional athletes a part of the PPL include Daddy Yankee (Orlando franchise owner), who is one of the best-selling Latin music artists known as the “King of Reggaeton,” 2009 US Open Champion Juan Martin Del Potro (Strategic Advisor to the Miami Padel Club), former ATP #2 singles player Tommy Haas (San Diego Stingrays owner), international soccer star Miguel Layun (Cancun Waves owner), and MLS MVP Sebastian Giovinco (Toronto Polar Bears owner).
Voting for the World Padel Awards is open until December 31st. To vote for the PPL in the “Best Innovation” category, click here.
