In the upset of the season, the Cancun Waves defeated the Miami Padel Club on Saturday in their semifinal showdown to secure a spot in the Championship Match on Sunday. Winning both the men’s and women’s doubles matches against Miami, Cancun’s stellar performance on Saturday put an end to the season’s top team – Miami – taking home the PPL Cup on Sunday.

In the second semifinal match of the day Saturday, the Las Vegas Smash defeated the Arkansas Matrix after the women had to forfeit their match due to injury. With the Arkansas men’s doubles team getting off to a quick start winning the first set against Las Vegas, Las Vegas fought back and won the next two sets to hold off the Arkansas men. Due to the Arkansas women’s team injury the forced them to retire from their match, Vegas automatically won the mixed doubles match and booked their spot in Sunday’s Championship Match.

On Sunday, the two teams will make history when they compete in the League’s inaugural Championship Match with the winner taking home the PPL Cup. Making a special appearance on Sunday for the finals is Daddy Yankee – one of the best-selling Latin music artists known as the “King of Reggaeton” – who recently purchased the Orlando franchise.  The PPL’s Championship Match will air tape-delayed on CBS Sports Network in their two-hour programming on June 22nd at 7p.m. ET.
