Padel, a growing racquet sport, is set to make its debut in Tampa Bay with the Pro Padel League (PPL) holding its inaugural season at the Sarah Vande Berg Tennis & Wellness Center in Zephyrhills. The PPL, North America’s first professional padel league, will begin on May 13 and take place over five weekends, with the championship weekend scheduled for June 10-11. Padel, a popular sport in Spain and globally, is a hybrid of tennis, squash, and pickleball. The league will feature 84 players from teams representing Arkansas, Cancun, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, San Diego, and Toronto.
